On a lovely day at Heaton Park lots of our girls were running in the Greater Manchester Schools XC Championship. Qualification for this event was based on the local schools XC leagues, with most of our girls representing the borough of Trafford.
In the U11 girls race, the first six girls home would count towards Trafford’s final team placing. After a very tight race against Manchester, a team that included ADAC member Grace Adams, the Trafford girls came out on top by just 4 points. The Altrincham girls that made Trafford’s top 6 and came back with winner’s medals were Aisling McHale, Esme Pearson, Verity Charnley and Holly Newton. Jessica Forrest was 7th Trafford Athlete with Orla Flynn also qualifying for the team, but unfortunately not well enough to run. Aisling McHale put in an outstanding performance to come back with an individual medal for finishing 2nd.
In the older age categories we saw great performances from Ellie Newton and regular stars Tess and Millie Pearce. Overall, a great day for Trafford and a lot of smiley faces on the girls.
