General Training Sessions
These sessions are based on those devised by the recently retired coach Don Nichol.
Don had been a member of Altrincham since 1976, taking up coaching the following year. He eventually reached level 4 for coaching endurance events and Marathon. He was also North West Regional Coach for endurance events.
He later lectured on developing endurance at Lancaster University and also lectured at South Trafford College on Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics.
The sessions are now run by Mansel Pope, the current club chair, and himself a runner with more than thirty years experience.
The sessions are held every Tuesday evening at the track on Park Road, Timperley at 7.15pm and athletes should be warmed up and ready to start at this time.
Non members of the club are welcome to attend these sessions, but a decent level of fitness and running background are required to manage and complete each session.

Sun 3rd Alsager 5Mile (club championship race)
Tues 5th Grass- 1x1500m, 2x1000m, 8x500m, all with 90sec rec
Sat 9th MCCL, Kenworthy Woods (no entries on the day)
Tues 12th Track – 10x 500m 90sec rec
Tues 19th Track- 6 sets of, 90sec effort, 60 sec rest, 60 sec effort, 30sec rest, 30sec effort, 3 mins between sets (session will be held together with Phil’s group)
Sat 23rd National XC Champs – Leeds
Tues 26th Track – 6x 800m, 2 min rec
Tues 5th Track- 5 sets of 1x 700m, 90sec rec, 1x 300m. 3mins between sets
Sun 10th Trafford 10k (we will be providing the marshals for this race, please volunteer your services)
Tues 12th Track – 12x 400m, 90sec rec
